Amazon Dot/Echo/Alexa

Just curious if anyone here on the forum has used these devices and what's your opinion:

Really useful?

Purchased out of curiosity, but not really that useful?

Not worth the hype?

All opinions welcome! :)

I purchased an Echo in early 2016 (2.5 years ago). To be honest, my main use for it is as a Bluetooth speaker for my PC. But it works well as a robotic helper.
  • Alexa does a good job of recognizing her name and interpreting your question or directive, even in a noisy environment with a television running in the background.
  • I find that the Bluetooth speaker feature works well and sounds good.
  • Alexa now understands and answers a wide range of questions by default. See:
    https://alexa.bio/commands/
  • Many other skills can be added with third party add-ons (many of which are free). See:
    https://www.cnet.com/how-to/amazon-e...-alexa-skills/
  • I have a friend who uses many more of these features than I do. I need to remember to ask Alexa to do things.
