What Spec Of Computer Do You Have ?
 

I know its a little below the belt but i am just curious as to what spec of pc's you people have ,

i have an outdated computer i bough t about 2/3 years ago

1200Mhz Amd Athlon
256 DDR Ram
50 GB Maxtor Harddrive


i hoping to get this upgraded soon.

I've got the exact same pc as DBH :)
And I think I am in the only person in the Netherlands who has a pc like this because the HP 502n was only sold in the US. :)

Strike a blow for the antique users amongst us.

My nearest and dearest has a 1.7Ghz Pentium 4m laptop and i swear its slower than my bad boy.

I'm getting an inferiority complex. Mine got reworked, swapped and upgraded but it's still miles behind most of these. It started life as a PII350/128 with an 8.4 gig Western Digital HD running Win 98 and now it's an Athelon 500/256 with 2 10 gig Western Digital HDs running Win2k. Works pretty well, though. I mean, it's working to capacity. I can run DWMX and a graphics program and FTP and browser together, but it slows down with all of that open and one more hog, like Word could freeze me up. No cash for upgrades now, though. I'm just happy we're still going and if I don't go nuts with multi-tasking it's pretty quick.

This computer became extremely slow lately, but I only use it rarely whan I need a computer outside home.

Other hardware: Alcatel speed touch home ADSL modem.
8 port ethernet hub (only 10baseT and 10base2. If I need faster transfer I use a double RJ-45 socket wired as cross over)

:) I'm currently saving for additional RAM and perhaps a new hard disk to replace the 40 GB one. It's getting full and I hate throwing stuff away I might need later on.

Apart from this I've also got about 7 computers ranging from 486's to PII's in various states of disassembly, their parts being stripped out and organized in boxes, so in case someone needs a spare hard drive/video card/soundcard/modem/etc I can provide in that. Also was considering building a cluser-ish machine from those spare PC's, never got that off the ground though.
