App or use client on iphone?
Hi,
I am actually using POBox. Do people here prefer the FM app on their phones or using the ios mail app? 3rd party app? Thanks |

I'm by no means a 'power user', but I do some reasonably complicated things with e-mail, almost exclusively on my phone... and I've never felt the need to use a specialised app or e-mail client.
Fastmail's webmail is fine. Admittedly it's a bit clumsier than it used to be in the good old days of the 'classic' and 'pre-classic' interfaces, but it does everything I need. As far as I'm aware, it does pretty much everything any of us need. I'd be very interested to hear what other people think. Why use an app or a client rather than FM webmail? |
I always use the browser because I can't trust 100% in apps (I mean adding more and more apps to my smartphone, I prefer to control privacy and security in my browser), permissions, connecting from time to time to check emails, resources, etc

I use the iOS Mail app, and will continue to use it until the FM app finally offers push notifications on folders other than the Inbox. iOS Mail is perfect for my needs.

I like the app but am leaning towards the native email client simply because of the little extras in ios with the 3D touch options.

I'd like to use clients on my phone (not an iPhone) and on the desktop, but as far as I'm aware it's not possible to send email from a client using an identity other than the default one using the 'Force all emails I send through 3rd party email clients to come from this address' toggle on the 'Identities & Fetch' settings screen.
(An alternative is to send from another domain, but not what I'm looking for.) I hope I'm wrong. Please let me know how to do it (and which email client(s) it work with), if it is possible. (Edit: The Android Fastmail App supports this. Unfortunately my phone is not Android and I don't think there is a desktop equivalent to the Fastmail app, so still looking.) |

Without a need for dummy POP etc. accounts. Whatever identity i have in FM webmail it also works in the app. However you can not edit the ID on the fly, it needs to be earlier specified in settings. |
