mail.india is down

After a long time without logging in there, today I tried going to mail.india.com, but the browser "could not connect to the server mail.india.com" and isup.me confirms that the site is down. Does anyone know how long this has been the case, and what the current status of the service may be?

After another twenty-four hours I am still encountering the same outage I encountered yesterday, and isup.me confirms the site is still down. Could it be a geographical problem affecting only certain servers in a way that only blocks attempts from certain parts of the world? Since two forum members were able to login yesterday, may I ask the general location where those login requests originated?

I am confused. Besides one other forum member, everyone else replying to my initial post has been able to login to mail.india.com, but I continue to be unable to reach the domain. This has gone on for several days. It can't be a technical problem at my end, because isup.me continues to indicate that they find the site to be down as well. How can that be, when people in parts of the world as far apart as India and the USA are able to log in? The site can't be down, but isup.me says that it is! Could someone with the necessary technical knowledge please speculate as to what might be happening here? Thanks.

isup.me showing down from here too.

It's not just you! http://mail.india.com looks down from here.
Check another site?
But the site is up.

Here's what I'm experiencing.

I can access india.com's site but if I click on the mail icon on the right hand side at the top, it will not let me access that site.

If I use my password manager (Lastpass), to try to access the mail site, it also fails to access the site.

If I use pop peeper, which is a mail notifier/client, I can receive mail to my india.com addresses, but it won't let me send any mail.

I have no idea as to how long this has been happening as I don't really use the india.com email that much.

I noticed that they have a new mail policy that will delete your account if not used within 180 days. I don't think that this is what is happening in the current situation with no access to email. I definitely have checked my mail within that 180 day window.

So, I am at a loss.............:)

I don't have an india.com email account and I'm in the US. Checking access to http://mail.india.com using various free and paid tools I have access to (from different locations in the US and other countries), I get the following results:
  • I think that the india.com domain and mail.india.com domain have some DNS problems. I see transitioning DNS results and odd reports from DNS testing services. I think these setup issues may be causing inconsistant results from different locations, depending on the local cached DNS lookup results.
  • But I also see problems with access to the mail.india.com IP address: http://82.165.227.135 Some (but not all) locations can't get a HTTP connection to the website at that IP. This might be due to network routing issues, or it might be due to mail.india.com blocking access to their website from IP addresses in certain parts of the world.
  • So other than complain to the website operators, I don't think there is anything you can do on your end. This service seems to be poorly set up right now, and it might be hard to determine if this is a just a poorly run service or a transient problem which will resolve soon.

Can anyone supply an email address for mail.india.com support where this problem can be reported directly? (Or maybe a support address for the main india.com website, although that would probably be less likely to produce results?) I can't seem to find one. Thanks.

support@india.com

They have closed all accounts not active in the past 180 days. This is the policy page as shown from the US:

Just a quick update.

I continued to have problems accessing the site for email at india.com, so I tried a little test.

Using a vpn service with Firefox, I was able to access the mail site just fine.

All my accounts seemed to be intact and I was able to send and receive without any issues.

It appears that my IP address is being blocked by india.com?

I have no idea as to why they would do this as I rarely use their service. Could that be why?

They never sent any emails explaining why they would block IP addresses.

Oh well.........:)
