Outlook.com

"These benefits activate automatically for all Microsoft 365 subscribers who have an Outlook.com mailbox associated with their subscription. Outlook.com mailboxes have email addresses ending in @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, @live.com, and @msn.com."

Does that mean that if you have say an outlook.tld other than those above you do not get these benefits? Does anyone with a none .com Outlook account know this / please do you mind checking?

Are there any other outlook domains apart
from .com and .org, with the latter pointing
to the former (AFAIK)?

Tsunami 27 Mar 2021 06:51 PM

Yes, the domain Outlook exists with many ccTLD's. I use one of those domains myself.

Yes, I can look for the article, it is on google.

It is possible to get a outlook.tld email but not hotmail.tld strange

Can confirm .tld also gets premium 365 but not sure about security features e.g. link checking?

I had found an article but can;t find it now but found this:

Thank you. A pretty random selection of countries, but it disproves my point all the same.

Tsunami 28 Mar 2021 02:56 AM

Not that I need an extra account right now, but I wonder if you can just choose whatever ccTLD you wish without actually living in the country. I remember when I signed up (6 or 7 years ago) I had the choice between .com or my own ccTLD.

So I wonder, living in Belgium, if I could just sign up for an outlook.co.il or outlook.sa address (random examples) without having an IP nor address in the countries associated with those domains.

digp 28 Mar 2021 04:01 AM

Yes, you can.

I had no issue.

janusz 28 Mar 2021 04:15 AM

Quite a few ccTLD's in the list are not available anymore

Tsunami 28 Mar 2021 04:53 AM

In the past I wanted an email address with .co.il and .com.tr TLDs as I have strong personal interests in those countries (even lived in Turkey for a while). But now that I already got several email accounts to check regularly, having yet another account to check and keep active seems a bit of a hassle. Still *slightly* tempting.

Back when it was live.com, there was a much larger selection of countries. You could create short emails, which was convenient before browsers auto-completed them.

Then I should be happy with my live.nl domain.:)

Tsunami 5 Apr 2021 09:33 PM

Very much so, that's a really good one!

I don't know why they now offer only a limited number of ccTLD's with the Outlook domain.

In the past, Yahoo also offered a long list of ccTLD's, they also stopped doing that (although people who registered a Yahoo.cctld address before new sign-ups stopped, can continue using it).

Imagine Gmail were using some ccTLD's, the potential for short and easy-to-remember usernames would be huge!

By default you can register @outlook.com , @hotmail.com and .tld from some countries

Some domains are not available for registration but existing email addresses continue to work and all MSFT email domains have equal rights.

For example, I own xxxx@live.com, xxxx@hotmail.com, xxxx@outlook.com, xxx@hotmail.co.il, xxxx@outlook.co.il

I had xxxx@msn.com but lost access to it at some point.
