Whilst on the subject of German perfomers, I think Munchener Freiheit's Fantasy album was great (in fact, I named my Sinclair ZX-Spectrum website after the associated single).  Too bad it was the only album of theirs to be released in the UK (and didn't stay on release very long)...

I grew up with a ZX Spectrum, got one when I was 8, now 20 years ago. I had ditched the C64 previously to that because it was impossible to program. The ZX Sepctrum had a much nicer basic.
With 10, I learnt Z80 assembler code, I thinjk that was just after upgrading it to a Plus (you could order a new case) got my 128K when I was 12.
Microdrives - how cool - 80K on a cartridge, and my AMX mouse which I got for my 11th birthday and must have cost like 40 or 50 UK pounds back then!

Great computer! Still have it in the basement.
