Spam Filtering
If you are able to apply spam filtering to secondary accounts, I see no reason why you couldn't apply the filter to the main administrator account.

Sifting through a few more holiday messages should be no big deal unless the messages are in fact spam.

With Outlook.com, you can only sign up to email accounts such as yourname@outlook.com. You can not sign up using your own domain name which makes it pretty limited.
