It does, but then Firefox, Opera and IE need less work. It seems to be light-feeling, fast and easy on system resources (important for those of us whose computers could be a little more up-to-date).

While there's certainly nothing wrong with using the web interface, in OE go to Tools > Options > Maintenance > Purge deleted messages when leaving IMAP folders.
