Wow that's quite a workaround.
But thanks Bill, that will do what I was after.

I have another thread on this, but if I swap to Labels and then swap back to Folders, will my folders be in the same order as before swapping to Labels?

Curiously - I found that I did not have to swap the Labels to achieve the result described.
I just made the search within Archive and saved it. It saved as a "child" of the Archive folder.
When later activating that search, the search was made in the Archive folder, but the "All Mail" radio button was there to be selected as an option.
