I get what they are saying, and their point is a good one but it is like swimming during a Tsunami. Consumers will consume! And they will be lured by sales on Black Friday. Maybe in the encrypted mail space there is not so much competition that they have to worry about it. Also, I can't imagine many people purchase a longterm service simply because they saved a few bucks. For my own part, I never buy anything I don't need, so I use Black Friday as a way to personally save lots of money on a few important things. Over the years I have done things like upgraded cell phones for hundreds of $$ less, purchased Christmas presents, etc. But, I would never lock myself into an email service during Black Friday unless I was already sure that's the one I would go for.
