An alternate frontend would be great. But even that still carries the risk of Fastmail changing the backend on you.
Unless you're setting an IMAP and CalDAV client. For example, Roundcube mentioned earlier in this thread. But then you don't have access to other stuff like Settings for managing domains and aliases, etc.
