"use" may not be the correct word. The only correspondence to my account are test messages that I send to myself.

@aim.com is an alias of @aol.com. Exactly the same as @googlemail.com is an alias of @gmail.com
15-20 years ago @aol.com was an email for paid AOL accounts and @aim.com was allocated to AIM Instant Messenger users.
And before this (2000-2003) all AIM Messenger users got address @netscape.net, but you cannot register @netscape.net anymore
I still have this email
xxx@netscape.net. It is actually the alias of
xxx@aol.com, the same as
xxx@aim.com.
