One of the FF add-ons is
this one, which already has the notification of Scroogle's possible retirement in the review section (so it presumable won't work any longer), as well as two suggestions for other courses of action: a different add-on (
GoogleSharing, which I haven't tried yet) and
Ixquick, a privacy-conscious search engine).
