The distribution of mailing lists in Fastmail is done using Address Book Groups.
- To create or remove Groups, go to Settings>Address Book>Groups. Click Create Group at the top to create one or more groups.
- Then go to the Address Book and add as many contacts as you wish to that group. A contact can belong to several groups. You can add contacts to a group in various ways:
- Select All contacts to see all of your contacts.
- To select more than one contact select them using the checkboxes to the left of each contact.
- Then drag one or more contacts to the group.
- Or after you select one or more contacts, use the Groups button at the top to add or remove those contacts from a group.
- In the Compose screen, click show or hide Cc or Bcc in the upper right (near the More tool) as needed to get the proper addressing fields displayed.
- To see your groups, enter groups in an addressing field. This shows the first 10 groups. You can also enter the name of a group, or a combination (such as test groups to find the group named test). You don't have to type the complete name, so for example I can enter tes gro to find my group named "test". You just need to differentiate between the group name and any matching contact name.
- Once you see the group you want to use, either click it or use the up/down arrows to select it and use the Enter key. All members of that group will be shown in the addressing field.
- You can then select all of the addresses in that addressing field (using CTL-A or right-click Select All) and copy or cut those addresses into your paste buffer.
You can also create a
distribution list alias email address which you and others can use as follows:
- In Settings>Aliases, create a new alias. Enable Also deliver to all contacts in and select the desired Address Book Group. Click Save at the top when finished.
- Now any email arriving at that alias (from you or from external senders) will be distributed (automatically forwarded) to all members of that group.
