We put out trash out on the corner. Today for example is trash day, we have two per week. Our trash collectors (yes even on New Year's Day) came through and they have bags hanging on side of the trash truck that some things get sorted in to. There are also junk vendors who pick through the trash before the the garbage collectors pulling out things out they can make money from. Once the truck is filled, at the dump, landfill there are folks who sort though all of it for items of value that can be sold to scrap vendors for recycling. Cans, glass, card board, plastic, etc.
