I do NOT know what is the magic of a web.de email account??
Their interface is outdated...their security lacks...and the german Government snoops arround even worse then Google. Besides that web.de home page isloaded with spammers and propaganda crap.
Also I think you need a German cellphone number to activate it. (wouldnt surprise me).

web.de is outter crap. Realy. Their webinterface is ONLY in German language. NO problem for me...but heyyy who am I?
Like i said before...and i will continue to say so...germany lacks behind at least 15 years in IT Business....most companies even today still use their famous FAX..!!!! Most city halls do not even respond to emails..!!!
Come on...this is 2017....I lived in germany...so I know what I am talking about.
Take a nice Yandex or mail.ru account...sooooo much better...way safer...and..much more oppertunities. And more space too.
OOO and you must love spam...if you have an web.de account...you will get spam...YES!
I always compare web.de with AOL...that says it all I think.
IF you must have a .de account..please choose mail.de...so much better!!
Web.de is just a big NO-GO imho.
