Today, 12 years ago - April 1st 2004, Google announced their new email service Gmail.com.
The old timers probably remember the extensive conversations here, speculating that it must be April's Fools day prank, as 1GB email is crazy. Yahoo was offering at the time 6MB and Hotmail 2MB.

Well, it was not a joke, and the rest is history...

Sorry, I am not used to type MB anymore... everything today is GB. I corrected my error above.

Yahoo was originally 6MB but reduced their allotment to 4MB at some point.
