Uploading files to File Storage
It would be nice if one got an offer to replace an existing file Y/N? And perhaps have an option to enable replacements to occur automatically if the file being uploaded is newer.

I'd like to see the capability for both versions to exist there. Sure, it could all be user-selectable and be better yet.

yes, instead of overwrite checkbox,
would like a more verbose overwrite yes/no messagebox that lists both file dates and timestamps. or what would be really nice is a refresh button for each file; if each file in storage 'remembered' what local path it came from, clicking 'refresh' would cause it to reupload. almost like webdav. |

The Reload thing is rather impossible to make. That kind of information is simply not passed to the website, as far as I can tell.
Can you imagine what would happen if a malicious website decides to do the same thing as Fastmail would do, but then with the files that contain your login information for Windows? Nothing different from Fastmail requesting a particular file from your machine, I'm afraid. --K |

Obviously I am missing something .... but what? Why would it be difficult to let users access their filespace by FTP? The sheer amount of complaints (about filespace) indicate that the existing model is seriously flawed. |

Two simple answers which I think cover the most of it: FTP isn't very secure. And FM doesn't want to be a web storage facility, there are many places to store data. This is intended to integrate with the email to make the email more valuable.

but seriously, a confirmation dialog would be cool. |
