Does my pobox problem involve IMAP?
I've noted that no-one else is having problems with pobox. My problem is not that emails are slow to be sent or received, but that Outlook sometimes fails to log on to pobox and gives me a "pobox server failed to respond" message.
I think this may have something to do with IMAP syncing. That is, it fails to sync because pobox's SMTP server is slow and Outlook times out. Originally, I did all my email with my laptop using Outlook [POP3]. Then when I got a smartphone, pobox said I must switch to IMAP. I did this and then my phone [K9 mail] and Outlook were synced. Very good . . . until early this year when I started experiencing these error messages from Outlook that stopped me logging on. So I think my question should be: Does anyone using IMAP have similar problems? |

One way to determine if this is an Outlook or FM issue might be to download another known email app, like Thunderbird, and compare how it is syncing to your Outlook app. I've found Thunderbird tends to sync reliably with POBox in the past. You can Google up lots of threads on people experiencing slow IMAP syncing using Outlook, along with various solutions.

Started a new thread on pobox and imap
TenFour: Your comments about IMAP and suggesting a new thread are noted.
I started the new thread but no replies so far.\ BTW, pobox are now starting to deny everything - including that I complained previously! I don't like their ethics, so I think it's time to move on. I've been trialling Gmail with good results and so far no login or IMAP problems. So that's where I'm going. |

Yes, still loving it.
I have some domains which caught a lot of spams a day. I added those domains to Pobox and it blocked all of them. As these are old domains and sometimes getting require emails too. Still feeling, it is worth of money. |

For many years I've paid for both pobox (basic) and fastmail (enhanced) account (using only their web interface.) As I needed more storage, I've upgraded my pobox account to mailstore and cancelled my fastmail account. So now I have double storage for less money, and still use fastmail's web interface Just want to mention the since I've first joined pobox (2001) I never had any issues with them! |

So out of curiosity with this setup POBox is the hub for all your email but if you want to mess around with something else you just set up the forwarding?
