![]() Starting about 8 hours ago, my three Fastmail accounts all started showing "ghost" email messages. These messages have a date/time but no content and can't be selected, viewed, or deleted. There were also some spurious email messages appearing today which appeared to be copies of some or all of my Notes - I was able to delete these note-related messages, but not the "ghost" empty messages.
I have filed a support request with Fastmail about this issue, including a screen capture. I don't believe that these spurious messages are visible to an external email client, but I have only made a cursory check of this. Bill |

After more experimentation, the empty "ghost" messages date/time display is erratic. Sometimes some or all of the empty message date/times are visible, but after UI interaction the date/times will all disappear. The empty message issue can be seen on the production or beta web interface, Fastmail iOS app, and Fastmail iPadOS app.

I do use FM Notes.
For things like:
So I do have many Notes. I access them regularly, but I don't create new ones very often or edit the existing notes very often. |

me too
I started seeing these ghost messages, all from notes, starting about the same time. They show up in searches for unread and recent messages. They cannot be selected or moved (by drag and drop).
I deleted and recreated the notes with a slightly different title but the old ghosts remain. I can't seem to get rid of them. Thunderbird does not show the ghosts, but I do see them in the web UI (prod & beta), and the Android app. |

No 'ghosts' here, so far. I use notes a lot, every day.

I don't know if this is relevant, but FWIW there is a folder called "Notes" which lets you read your notes from an IMAP client. The folder is hidden in webmail.

How do you make it appear in the folder list when using an email client? Last edited by gardenweed : 12 Aug 2022 at 09:48 AM. Reason: typo |

![]() I received a message from Fastmail support about an hour ago. They have fixed this problem, and I have confirmed that I no longer see "ghost" empty messages (related to Notes) in my account.
