How many "or" conditions?
I have a forwarding rule which has several "or" conditions.
If any of them applies, the mail is forwarded to a certain address. How many "or" conditions can one rule have? Thanks for any info. Oded. |

It is converted into a sieve anyof construct, and I think the only limitation is the total size of the sieve script. I doubt it is anything you need to worry about unless you have several thousand conditions.

Actually, there is an upper limit to list sizes in Sieve, although it's going to depend entirely on how FastMail has configured it.
The interface for creating rules limits the number of conditions to 50 — the "Add Condition" button is greyed out after you reach fifty items (I was bored, so I tested it ). As BritTim points out, in theory you could certainly add more in a manual Sieve rule, but how many you could put in before Sieve choked is really a question for the fine folks at FastMail.... it's usually a server-settable preference, and some systems I've worked with default to 64 if you don't explicitly specify it; I can't find any information on what the defaults are in Cyrus' Sieve implementation, but there's also no telling what FastMail may have tweaked it to regardless. |
