That's for a .com address, registered with Google Domains, this thread is discussing the proposed Gmail custom address service.

Does it actually mention anywhere that it would be a Google Apps account?

If in tandem with an existing Gmail account, it might make sense, but we have to wait on what Google decides.

Hosting a domain name for a two dollar a month fee might seems like a good deal, at first sight.
I edited my post above to specify email. I was referring to email hosting, not actual domain and/or registration hosting.

Yes, at least in one of the articles I read about it. It was listed as a new service level for Google Apps.

Hello popowich. I will mention that my previous post was not a reply to your post (which you quoted from, without mentioning my name) but to the opening post (by digp) I have not seen any mention of the deal including a Google App's account, anywhere in this thread (as is mentioned by Cory)

I still do not think that this offer (from the info available) is a good deal.

I apologize this image mislead me into believing it was Google Apps account http://www.gsmarena.com/exclusive_gm...blog-13109.php you are all right, it is just Gmail with a custom domain. But in affect it is basically like a Google Apps for Work account minus the extra work features.

Why would you consider this a stupid idea? I think it's a great idea for those folks that want to use Gmail.

Because $2 a month (for a domain name) just sounds cheap, when in actuality it is quite expensive.

$24/year for domain hosted email with the reliability and features of gmail is reasonable. Sure, there are other providers that may be cheaper but not very many.

Consider the cost of a lost/hacked email account.

If they provide more customer service than a free account can get, it's not a terrible deal.
