k.st - advantage - no limit to shortness of email name - i got a firstinitiallastinitial.k.st. Really short. Also it has email notification.

disadvantage - no pop/smtp unless you pay. If you want free it's only web based (powered by Everyone.net). Nothing else but email and addresses (no calendar, todo list, etc.)

I like the k.st - K Street name, but without pop/imap access, to me it's under the just-another-boring-webmail-site category.

I emailed their support to find out why the site was down. Turns out they're moving servers because of the lagging! They say their new server, which should be up by tommorow, is at least 3 times faster. That's awesome! No more slow-downs!

I have a pretty fast ADSL service, I tried to go to the site and it loaded very slow.
Is this a natural thing or just happened to me?

"Greetings B.md Free Email User!

You probably noticed that our service was down the last couple of days. well,
we're glad to tell you that http://b.md is up and running.

That downtime was a result of our moving servers. We want our users to have
the best possible experience with our company. So, we decided to upgrade our
hosting. Now, retrieving your email will go lightning fast.

We've switched around a few things. First of all, the SMTP server for B.md is
now webmail.b.md . The POP3 server is still mail.b.md .

Also, to avoid clutter on our server, we request that you email us at
support@b.md to get your free hosting account activated. If you will not use
the hosting, please do not activate it.

Well, that's it for now. We hope you enjoy our services.

Best Regards,
The B.md Staff"

it is very fast right now. this could be a real good sign of things to come

Hi! I'm the owner/CEO of B.md free services. I'm so glad you guys are talking about us!

Anyway, I'd be glad to answer any questions you have about our services. As far as accounts go, we've been swamped lately. The response we're receiving is huge. Because of that, we're a bit backed up with accounts. All people who signed up Saturday or Sunday will have an email account by the end of the day Monday.

All email sent through the web interface of this service gets tagged not with your address, but with a fake From: address in a domain that doesn't exist.

That means if there are mail delivery problems at the other end, you'll never get notified (delivery notification messages usually get sent to the From address)... It also means that you cannot send to mail servers that reject messages from non-existant domains (such as FastMail.FM).

I believe the support team of b.md have been notified of this problem so hopefully they'll have it fixed soon--in the meantime however be careful of this issue.
