Angry "untrustworthy provider

First I had to open another account (Gmail), so I could recieve posts from my Yahoo groups. (After a week, NO, ya'll had no solutions that worked). Thanks though.

NOW, I get a banned notice from another group I've belonged to for a year with no problems. "Sorry ted655, you've been banned from this forum. Reason; Untrustworthy email provider."
Is this some more Fastmail "filters" crap? Why are you a untrustworthy provider?
My wife tells me she has had problems with a few of her sites not acceptong Fastmail as a valid addy.
Have the FTGs finally "filtered" their selves off the WWWnet?

I suppose a lot depends on how you have got your account set up....or should I say your settings.

Sorry to hear you had to go to G-mail....things must be bad.

Actually my "set up" has nothing to do with this issue. Things have worked fine for a year. I've made no changes, at all. This makes me think the FTGs have been tinkering again..
Seems everyone is in a peeing contest. Microsoft, Yahoo, Fastmail (?), all want the control. If this crap keeps on, nothing will work together. Everything will be propriatory.
I have no idea HOW my TV works. I just like to surf & watch different channels. Is it too much to ask that my email shares & plays well with others?
This isn't anything I've done to myself. Some FTG has written a few lines of code for some BS reason!

This sounds like a decision on the side of Yahoo or a particular mailing list. If FastMail is to be able to do something about this they need to have a particular explanation as to why this label is used. Usually when there's an explanation FastMail works to correct whatever is wrong. Otherwise all they can do is work within the email standards, and they are doing this much better than Yahoo...

THIS issue isn't about Yahoo!! We all worked on their issue for a week with no other solution than to change emails (which worked) AND every scrap of information WAS provided.

This is a NEW problem NOT involving Yahoo.
FTG...Mod: Removed. You deal with their handy work every day & just don't know it. Their motto is "Why make it simple or easily understandable, now's MY chance to get even with everybody" Prime example; To turn OFF your computer, you need to push the START button. Here is another example. As per Fastmail request I downloaded & ran "the test. I have no clue what the results are. How could I, I only speak english.

Results;
FastMail.FM Alternate SMTP test:

FastMail.FM SMTP proxy test:
21: 220 mail.messagingengine.com ESMTP . No UCE permitted.
22: 220 mail.messagingengine.com ESMTP . No UCE permitted.
23: 220 mail.messagingengine.com ESMTP . No UCE permitted.
70: 220 mail.messagingengine.com ESMTP . No UCE permitted.
443: 220 mail.messagingengine.com ESMTP . No UCE permitted.
I rest my case! By the way, I've changed my email addy to Gmail on this other forum & things are back to normal. Hmmmmm? The rest of the world IS definatley out of step with Fastmail... NOT11

Here is the reply from the webmaster of the forum that banned Fastmail.
Oh well.........

++"Ted,

If a spammer attacks the site and they're using a foreign e-mail provider,
like "fastmail.fm" (the .fm top-level domain refers to the Federated States
of Micronesia), then we usually ban the entire domain because the spammer
almost always comes back using a different name from the same provider. The
way I see it is if fastmail.fm doesn't take proactive action to prevent its
users from sending unsolicited bulk spam e-mail, then they are considered
"untrusted". It's unfortunate that you were affected by the ban as well.
You're the first person to affected by this policy in the many months that
we've been doing this... And we have stopped a lot of spam using this
technique. Again, sorry for the confusion and for your patience."++++.

What you quote doesn't indicate that they have notified FastMail about any spam that was delivered from FastMail to them. It just says they have seen something that looks like spam from FastMail and decided to just ban the entire domain without doing anything to notify anyone about spam being sent. In order for fastMail to take "action to prevent its users from sending unsolicited bulk spam e-mail" FastMail needs to be notified about such email. FastMail does a lot to prevent spam including scanning outgoing email.

I wouldn't be surprised if they decided on this ban without really verifying the source of the spam they received is really Fastmail. What you quoted suggests that the ban was based on domain name and not on real identification of the sending server (IP address).

Sounds like the webmaster of that forum is taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Banning all fm addresses is way way over the top and displays an ignorance of how email and domains work (in my opinion).

Try using an alias in one of fastmail's com, net or org domains to register at that forum.

I guess this particular webmaster is too clueless to even do a NSLOOKUP. If he did that he would find out that Fastmail is hosted in New York.

Well...in the end, ignorant or not, he is the boss.
++"that he would find out that Fastmail is hosted in New York."++. Hosted, owned, located, based, WHATEVER! Does .fm mean what he said or not?
YOU call & educate him, I certainly don't need to **** him off, more than I have.
Actually it was Gay porn being injected into a family based forum. Did he overreact? Probably. I don't get the idea from our conversations that he sees himself as someone who needs to nit-pic or confere with all the emails out there. He knows from past actions that some have lax or no self policeing and others are on top of it.
His solution is, "Kill them all & let God sort it out"
Me? I just want to use the internet. I have another account, it works, so I leave all the techno talk, recriminations and finger pointing to ya'll
