POP3 Prolem: bogus, you
Since a few days, I can't write e-mails with my POP3 client (The Bat), I always get the following message
"!xx.xx.xxxx, xx:xx:xx: SEND - Message has not been sent. Server reply - bogus, you." back from the server. Any ideas ? I didn't change anything in the configuration lately... Thx. |

We started blocking this a few months ago when a massive virus attack started. To prevent that attack from bringing the entire system down, we started blocking «localhost» as HELO/EHLO - all the incoming connections had that in common. The attack is still ongoing, albeit not as ferocious as it began, but in any case I'm loath to remove the block. «localhost» isn't a valid host name that should be used externally, as it's the de facto canonical name for «this host». Can you see if it is possible to change the name used for HELO/EHLO? I'm not familiar with your MUA, so I'm afraid I can't help you there. Anyway - I must concede I should have chosen a better error message when I implemented that hot-fix. :-) Tore |

In non-techie-speak: The network name for your PC shouldn't be "localhost".

Localhost
Thx for the explanations... I've added a server-alias in my TCP/IP hosts file and it seems to work fine now!
