Poor connectivity with Safari?

Long time user, recent issues with connecting to web interface....

I can't pinpoint when it started, although I suspect it has something to do with my upgrade to MacOS Sierra and use of Safari, although I can't imagine why. I use my email at home on Safari, and at work with Firefox (Windows) - Firefox has no problems.

With Safari - I constantly see the 'lost connectivity' window float up from below, with the 'Retry in x s'..... and commonly will see it three times running before it connects and refreshes the display. Especially occurs after machine wakes from sleep. The rest of the web is perfect.....

Any thoughts, solutions even???
