Can't get Yandex SMTP to work.

I've tried smtp.yandex.com and both "user" and "user@yandex.com" as logins. I consistently get authentication failures. The same credentials work fine with IMAP to imap.yandex.com, as does the web interface. Has Yandex disabled SMTP?

25 is blocked. Can't seem to get 587 to work. Weird, it claims to support STARTTLS and AUTH PLAIN, which is what I have Airmail set to.

I don't think it's an SSL problem, it's more like SMTP has simply been disabled at Yandex. AUTH always seems to fail, SSL/TLS or no. I've tried <username>, <username>@yandex.com, <username>@yandex.ru, all fail.

I have 2 yandex accounts and BOTH work like a charm. I use pocomail,TB and Foxmail as emailclients. On my android phone I use the inhouse app from yandex. Everything is set to port 465...with SSL. Webmail also just works fine.

Webmail works fine for me too. I've tried Thunderbird and Airmail, both fail. I use imap.yandex.com for IMAP and smtp.yandex.com for SMTP. Port 465 with SSL, 587 with TLS, both fail. I have the IMAP box checked in the web interface. I have the POP3 box unchecked (checked doesn't fix). I do have non-letter characters in my password.

try the folowing: log in to your webmail of Yandex.....and then choose the option "log out from ALL devices"...

recechk your password in your mailclient...that should do it. Maybe (it´s a long shot)...just try to change your password.

Like I said...I tried poco,TB and Foxmail...all is OK. So I guess something IS wrong with your settings...and pls log out from all devices.

Logging out from all devices didn't fix it. Neither did changing my password to an all-alphanumeric one.

I'm not sure what could be wrong with my settings.

smtp.yandex.com
port 465
SSL
AUTH PLAIN
username: <user>@yandex.com

AUTH LOGIN doesn't fix the problem, I get the same error.

On what OS you are?? Windows,Linux,MAC..?? On your phone you use Android,iOS or winphone??

Did you allready tried uninstall your mail clients and (after a re-boot) re-install them....and see what happens then??

after de-install i would use a register cleaner.

I am on Windows 7....and all works just fine. My phone is android and I use the app that yandex itself makes. But I tried it on "mysecuremail" and on "Blue Mail" and I can use the smtp sefver from yandex....no probs.

This truly is very ODD.....

Mac. OSX 10.9.2. I just tried the Yandex Android app, that works.

More interesting is what happened when I tried to set up a Yandex Mail account in Kaiten Mail for Android. I got the error "Negative SMTP reply: 535 5.7.8 Error: authentication failed: Use Web to Login !" That's a suspiciously custom error message! Maybe newer accounts have SMTP disabled?

Maybe Yandex thinks you a bot after may failed logins or trys.

I think you searching for this site http://feedback2.yandex.ru/mail/send/useweb/

Try Google translate

I solved this problem by enter my telephonenumber. After that I also sign on, on the russian version auf the site via the link in the helptext.

Now the FSB can call me

I have tried every single combination and finally got the SMTP to work

Use these settings:

smtp.yandex.ru
port 465 with SSL

smtp.yandex.com does not seem to work, but the .ru works fine.
I hope this helps.
