There's a note on icmail.net's provider/SENTRIS home page that it was closed due to SPAM.

ICmail at best has always been spotty. The aforementioned announcement about being shut down due to spam was actually posted about two years prior to the eventual death of the service. Although it was great when it worked, it became apparent early on that Sentris would not live up to their reputation as being one of the early innovators in the field. I gave up on them a long time ago, and this is truly proof that sometimes you do get what you pay for...

As of this morning the website is back up; the log-in is still non-functional, however, and Thunderbird can't seem to connect.

As cheviot says, the website is back up.
SMTP and POP are also operating satisfactorily.
Another miraculous recovery.

So, basically, we can conclude that this is a stable, reliable email service?

[/sarcasm]

Edit: For what it matters, I'm currently unable to login to my account through the web interface. As far as I can recall, I've never even tried its SMPT or POP in the entire several years I've had the account and I'm not going to bother trying them now.
