IMAP Client
Hey all,
I've been using Outlook 2000 as my email client but am looking for something a little lighter and faster. I hope it's not against forum rules to request any suggestions. I tried Thunderbird and it wasn't quite ready for primetime although I do like the potential! |

I am suprised to say you dont think Thunderbird is up to the task. I have been using thunderbird for about 2 months now (imap) and love it. Great spam control, and flawless email retrieval.

The last version I used had a lot of troubles connecting to runbox - of course I was using pop3 at the time so I may give it another shot.

It's worth giving it another try, Gnome. I've been using Thunderbird for a couple of months now for IMAP and it works great. Plus, you can get GnuPG (Gnu encryption program) for Thunderbird via Enigmail if you want to be able to use digital signatures or encrypted email. I've been very happy so far with the features and useabililty of TB.

Just tried it. Doesn't work on older laptops. Takes minutes to load, extremely slow. Outlook Express 6 is 10000 times faster. (I don't use OE though, prefer Opera 5.12, but has not IMAP, unfortunately)

Sorry to hear that nomad. There are other IMAP clients that you could try, though. I don't use OE because it doesn't work right for me with runbox and because of security holes.
Scroll down to "Clients" on IMAP Product list . |
