I would have to say google for specific info. About.com for general info and Yahoo cause my email's open in the browser anyway.

DuckDuckGo for the win! Recently I got more and more fed up with Google foisting shopping links on me no matter what I was searching for, which prompted me to try DuckDuckGo again. I then installed the DuckDuckGo extension to Chrome, which eliminates a lot of the tracking stuff. It is nice to roam around the web without having the same ad following me everywhere, though at Christmas time I kept seeing the ads for the stupid pajamas with the bottom flap--I can only assume that ad was being shown to just about everyone. I remember one time after searching for toilets on Google I kept seeing ads for toilets for weeks--nice to get away from that.

It is interesting to see the vastly different results you get using different search engines. It has made me think it would be interesting to have a web app that would include two or more search engines side-by-side. I suppose you could sort of do that with multiple windows or tabs, but it would be awkward. Just comparing the top 10 results can give a quick idea of what the search engines are trying to serve up to you, which is what they are doing rather than trying to provide the best results.
