Papier hygiènique en français!

A "cleaner" word would have been "bathroom tissue" instead of toilet paper right?!

The important thing is that it does the job, right?!

I haven't made up my mind yet... I've had 18 years to contemplate this mindboggling issue, and every time I find myself in a coin-flip situation. Either way works for me, really, but sometimes it seems 'just right' to hang it over, while at other times it looks so much better having it at the back

Like Kander, I haven't made up my mind about this. If it hangs, it hangs and I'm the one that usually puts it on the roll bar. The one thing I do know is I like to have a nice soft white one!

Sorry to adopt a lofty attitude towards all of this, but I figure a little Hegel would reveal that you are all looking in the wrong place for your answers!!! Clearly, your thesis is that the paper should face AWAY from the wall, with the antithesis that it should face TO the wall...... clearly, with the dialectic of time, you should synthesise and smash the holder from the wall, placing the toilet roll on the water tank. This will enable free will to be actualised and the individual can always choose which way to replace the roll after using!

Before there is any debate.... I think that the Anarchist Wiper should be allowed to kick the roll under the tank into the darkest corner if he so chooses!

"Toilets of the world UNITE, you have nothing to lose but your......"

Episode I

Once upon a time, in a remote countryside village in the Abruzzo region of Italy...

Returning late one night with some villagers coming in from a nice visit to Pompei and other places, i had to go...

So i ordered the bus driver to stop immediately at the village coming up around the corner. Step off the bus and ran quickly into the bar (restaurant), went straight to the bathroom.

Having finished i looked around for that nice rolled up piece of bathroom tissue facing the wall but there was none to be found! All i had was a handkerchief (un mouchoir) stashed away in one of my pockets!

Maybe, but I'm usually not usually very politically correct, so I went for the most descriptive term.

Plenty of Roman ruins in the area but no sponge.

Humiliating indeed!

When in Rome do what the Romans do and use carta igienica (modern) or an vecchio Romano spugna!

The moral of the tale (excuse the pun) is to take your own, no matter where or when you go.

When's episode number 2 coming?

Episode II

Once upon a time...

In a small city in Eastern Ontario.

Was altar server (just a few years ago! ) offering my services at Mass one weekday. During Mass i just had to go so i left the service momentarily, ran downstairs to the parish hall only to find the washroom... locked!!!

This was an emergency! Panicking, didn't know where to go so i ran back up the stairs to the church and... did it in the small sinc in the sacristy. Must of been some smell but i don't recall. Never told the pastor about it and he never brought it up either. Probably knew i was so embarassed about it.

Don't recall if there was any bathroom tissue available so i can't say if it was facing the wall or not.

Do you think stories like these would make them smile?

Have episode III coming around the corner, but it may not be as spectacular.
