Unfortunately, "Long haired lover from Liverpool" is not Jimmy Osmond's worst song. I felt like puking when I heard "Mother of mine"!

A while back, we were watching Saturday Night Live and the musical guest was Phish. One song consisted of repeating the line "Forty-six days and the coal ran out," over and over. (At least that's what it sounded like to me, our daughter says it was "the call rang out," which makes just as little sense, LOL.) Truly dreadful.

Best wishes,
David P.

I used to think that too, but if you listen closely he's actually pretty talented, and ....he's one of the few rappers that you can understand what he's saying. The 'Eight mile' movie was a disapointment though.

Someone left my cake out in the rain,
I don't think that I can take it,
cos it took so long to bake it,
and I'll never have that recipe again ....oh noooo!

oh no indeed! MacArthur Park ~ Richard Harris

I do actually like the song however

I'm a fan of Eminem, too, and I really don't know why...I like most of his songs, I find myself tuning in to them when they come into rotation in my CD player...but I'm not really a rap fan. I can't explain it

Erm, you might want to rethink that. You should count yourself lucky if you can't understand what the rapper is saying!

Disclaimer to prevent flamewar from erupting: In most cases, not all cases, of course. Some of those rap tunes are pretty groovy!

Me too! It's one of those novelty-type songs that is so bad it's good.

OK folks, here is THE most awful song recorded of all time:

"(You're) Having My Baby" by Paul Anka

Second place:

"Afternoon Delight" by Starland Vocal Band

Particularly the line that says....
" I'm a woman in love and I love what it's doing to me" ...hmm how many women would share that sentiment?

What makes this song doubly the worst song of all time (IMHO, of course) is that it is a duet. Eewwwww!

MacArthur Park ~ Richard Harris
A year or two after that, Richard Harris announced that he'd had a brilliant idea (or words to that effect) — he was going to record an album which told a story.  Nothing particularly strange (or brilliant) about that, one might think — but from the wording of the announcement, he evidently had the (daft) idea that nobody had done any such thing before!  Clearly, he'd never heard of In Search of the Lost Chord.  Or Days of Future Passed.  Or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.  Or West Side Story.  Or... oh, fill in the name of any musical or opera yourself.

To my mind, Sk8r Boi[sic] by Avril Lavigne is a good song (IMO) spoiled by the stupid haxxor-d00d spelling of its title.  That sort of thing wasn't clever or funny when Slade did it, and hasn't become any more so in the 30 years since...

easyEverything's PA is currently (as I type) playing a version of My Love Don't Constipate(*) by J-Lo, in which she duets with some rapper!  IMO, this makes an already dire song, far worse...

(*)Yes, I know this is a mondegreen (the official title is ...Cost a Thing)...

And then there's Abraham, Martin and John — easily the most boring Motown track ever (and the funereal tune didn't help)...

All verses were exactly similar:

Quote:
Has anybody here
Seen my old friend <insert name here>?
Can you tell me where he's gone?... (etc.)

I agree! (Although I have a different opinion of the song itself). Why can't people learn to spell correctly?! Particularly from an artist whose target audience is of a younger generation...

Well, I`m a big rock guy from 60`s 70`s and so on, up to when rock suddenly stopped, or evolved into something else(94/96?)..... when it started to mix with rap.
IMO Eminem is a witty guy, just a matter of taste.
But the line is drawn there, I don`t don`t listen to the genre, but I see more in him than you do, above all the others.

I just hope we get back to popular music someday that has some singing.

Because thats how we spell on sms text messages. So they're using marketing to try to get people to buy the single I guess.
