How to start discussion board????
Hello,
I'm trying to create discussion board for my startup web-site store to hear comments and complains from my potential customers. How do I start discussion board like emaildiscussions.com??? Do I need to install software? etc. etc... I would appreciate if Edwin or others could give me an advise... Thanks in advance |

I would first look at the hosting company which provides hosting for your website. Many hosting companies provide a free phpBB (or another type) message board. Usually all you have to do is click and install it, and you are ready to go.
You can also download phpBB free here: http://www.phpbb.com/. Read the documentation there for help on how to install. Your hosting provider must allow sql (usually MySQL) databases for this to work. |

Hi UnhappySoul,
You will need, at a minimum, a web host provider that has MySQl (database) and PHP(web programming language). Most, if not all, web providers will be able to tell if they can support your discussion board before you sign up. The other thing to keep in mind is how many people you predict will access your discussion board it one time. The amount of people on your discussion board will effect the web host providers server that most likely has more than one web site on it with you. I've heard of many web host providers that have forced discussion board operators to move to a higher plan or else leave as they are consuming too many server resources for what they (you) are paying. Have fun! - Gerry |

If you want something free, but ad supported you might like a service such as www.proboards.com or www.boards2go.com
