providers powered by gmail but be open for registration
From what I know there are these:
Do you know anyone others? I know some ISPs, such as DSLextreme.com, Toast.net, Virginmedia.com etc, are powered by gmail. But they seem don't let people to register for free. |

Are email services that are 'powered by Gmail' identical to Gmail in all the negative respects, or are they separate and merely using the Gmail interface? From what I have been able to check and infer, the privacy problems of using any service that is essentially Gmail by another name are the same as using Gmail itself. Am I wrong about that? If not, then what's the difference? And also, if someone already has a 'real' Gmail account and then opens an account at, say, g.pl, does that account get linked or somehow associated (perhaps by IP) with the 'real' Gmail account for data mining purposes? The answer seems evident, since these accounts all refer a user to the Gmail TOS and Google privacy policy. So it is just like using Gmail, correct?

Mol.mn too, unless that one ceased operations since mail.mn has become active.
Wasn't there some other .pl domain with just 1 character too that used the Gmail interface? Some addresses here are neat. Student.com (although I finished education 10 years ago, it's still an easy one to remember and share with people), Bolivia.com, g.pl, .... But if you get the same hassle as in them trying to get you connected to Google+ without you being the person who wanted to become a member of Google+, then I would not consider it. You can also still opt for Everyone.net hosted vampirefreaks.com, another domain suitable for easily remembering after mouth-to-mouth address exchange |

There is another nice domain mail.gr who uses gmail for their email service. Talking about students I've always wondered why so many universities use Gmail as their mail service for their alumni, students & stuffs? Do they have some kind of secret agreement with Google enabling them to spy on their students? Just kidding. Last edited by bbauri : 17 May 2014 at 12:49 AM. |

No, but they have a great deal in Google Apps for Education, a product tailored and priced very well for schools.
Google knows you want to get kids in the Google habit early. |
