Open link present in a message in a new window
Hi,
This is a really small but very helpful enhancement that can be added to the system. Whenever I click on a link in a message, the page is displayed in the same window. This is really very inconvenient. Hence, if the link could open in a new window or tab, it would be great. Thanks, Abhishek [Mod:] URL removed as per the forum rules. Welcome to the EMD forums adeydas
I agree, this would help in certain situations. *Please note that signatures are not permitted in the forums, apart from your name: Forum Rules |

As you may know, ctrl-clicking or middle-clicking opens a link on any webpage in a new tab (shift-clicking opens in a new window). This is the case in Firefox, but I think also in IE and other major browsers.
Once you get used to it, very convenient... |

The original poster in this thread makes a very good point.
I find it very inconvenient to have to use special keystrokes when opening a link. Normally, when an email user clicks on a link within an email message, it is not their intent to navigate away from the email message. By default, Gmail, and probably most other email services, have clicking on links in a new window by default. Please do one of the following: 1) Make clicking on Links open a new window by default (bring FM up to modern times) or 2) Allow an option in Preferences to Open Links in a new window. I've been a premium FM user since late 2001 and I find this one of the most inconvenient aspects of using this service. |
