Struggle with email since some mishap must have happen

The od thing is that all three computers had problems with email.

My naive thoughts come to think about some criminal overtake
but I know too little to really find the logic about such to happen.

The more realistic scenario is that something did happen
when They disconnected the cables to to the NetTops.
Totally accidently they could have activated the Hard Disk

That was what did happen to me too so either they or me
or both activated a OS named Australis_MateOS and that one
waited for to how to get it all started.

Unfortunately that program absolutely dominated my computer
and misled me to trust that a virus had taken over but recently
I have learned that that is how it looks when one boot from a
Flash-memory and that stick boot up with it's OS so nothing wrong.

What a relief I felt. If it is like they told me then it was normal.

So now I need to connect that computer without a mem stick connected
and delete the Australis_MateOS so it does not bother anymore.

Sorry such a long text but I have still not got the computer
handle my emails right but not much more to do fortunately.

I make use of Fastmail as my main email provider. Works good.
Then Yahoo but I do want to change it for something else
but have not decided on what to use instead.

Gmail is a good choice so maybe I decide on google+

Maybe Vivaldi the former MyOpera devs who have set it up.
Or why not live.com that one is reliable in that they have
been with us since email started? Okay some up and downs
but it works for most peoples.

Wow I sure am talkative. I don't expect anybody to forgive me
but I needed to went all the frustration struggling for weeks
daily and having almost total failure each day and very slow progress.

Whoa whoa, slow down.

So you have three computers, some of which are NetTops? Who disconnected the cables to them? What kind of cables are they? Which one is working and which one isn't?

And you've been booting from a USB memory stick that loads something named Australis_MateOS??? That's easy to fix, as you said. Just unplug the memory stick and reboot.

But I've never heard of an OS named Australis_MateOS, and Google doesn't seem to know about it, either. From what I can tell, Australis is the name of the next-generation (not yet released) theme for the Firefox web browser, and MATE is the name of a desktop environment for Linux. But unless it was you who put them together, Australis_MateOS doesn't sound like a legitimate OS in its own right. Where on earth did you get it?

Anyway, If you use FastMail and Yahoo, you should be able to access your email with any web browser on any computer, since both of them have webmail. Just remember that if there's any chance your computer was compromised by a virus, someone could have installed a keylogger that steals your passwords. So change your passwords as soon as you're on a clean computer.

Yes sorry I am much too talkative and my text confusing.

I have HP/Compaq and that one lost sound out despite
nobody toughing it during me visited hospital.

Then I have two Acer Netbooks. D250 and D255

One of them behaved like if it was taken over
but maybe it was just me not noticing that a USB Flash Mem
still attached to it and it tried to boot that one.

I actually found that OS here in Other Distros.
The mystery is that I don't remember that I
had ever set it up but that could be due to medication
so strong that I got memory lost and fail to remember.

The one I use now is the one least affected.

Looking at it's mnu.lst I fail to find that OS
I have problem with. It wants my password
and I don't remember I have giving it to them before.

Another problem my LAN set up got so bad that it request
Each 5 or 10 seconds. VEry annoying and my ISP
may think I should only use trusty old Microsoft Win7
or Winxp.

What I ask help with is to get the constant requests to stop.
And to find a way for me to delete the Australis_Mate that is the OS installed but which I want uninstalled.

Usually using Puppy one just delete the files and it is done
but this one did not let me open anything else.

Most likely that is how a frugal install behave if one use another OS?

The three persons visiting my home having the keys
handed over by me personally assured me none had
started up or activated anything. I have to trust them.

Please, concentrate on the real problem. If I'm read carefully then this is what you ask.

Problems with the sound is most likely due to the fact that your unwanted Linux distribution does not have proper drivers for your PC. If you manage to get rid of the unwanted distro, this will probably get fixed on its own.

The easiest solution would be to re-download and re-install the distro you want (e.g. Puppy Linux) from their official website. It's easier to install a new distro than it is to uninstall what is already installed on your PC. During the installation of your new Linux distro, there will probably be a screen that asks you how to partition your hard drive. Tell it to wipe everything (or at least the partition that contains the unwanted distro) and start from a clean slate. Even if Australis_Mate doesn't let you open or delete anything, it won't be able to prevent you from booting into a freshly downloaded OS and nuking it from orbit.

If you have any files that you need to back up, back them up before doing the above.

As for your LAN, just reset all the equipment and set it up again from a clean slate. Most routers have a button that you can press for about 10 seconds to do a factory reset.

Yes I have to look into if that is the case.

Yes I can use a Zorin Linux to boot and delete the Australis_mate files hopefuly by looking at date of them last time activated.

Yes sounds logical to me.

Australis is a linux os and not a very good one
It doesnt have a wide assortment of drivers on install

As said above the best way it to install a os that you want and use it to delete Australis

I know many people want to move their email from My Opera Mail to Vivaldi Mail.

Since we still haven't set up direct import from external Mail service through the web interface, I thought I would write up a post to explain how to do this step by step.

I know it's not the best way but at least it offers possibility if you want to do this now, rather than waiting for our release.

Basically, the process requires you to set up two different IMAP email accounts with your mail client, one for My Opera and the other is for Vivaldi Mail. You can then copy and move from My Opera Mail to Vivaldi Mail.

Anyway, here is how you can do it...

Xmailer not your fault I am bad at explaining.

I fail to get a vivaldi account to get approved of.

The rest code then send never get accepted.
I fail to get their English which email address
they tell me to give them. I trusted they needed
the alternative they would send to so I gave them
my Fastmail addy. And I tested to give them my
wanted username. Have that one at myopera too
and it works there. no problem except I loose
myopera March 1st first.

But if I manage to get a vivaldi account established
then one can do what they tell us.

Much appreciated you found an official recommendation.

Yes, I'm sorry, I guess I didn't correctly understand your issue, as I'm afraid I still don't.

I only know that, after signing up for a vivaldi account some time ago, which required clicking a link in a message to the alternate address I had given them, when trying to login again sometime later, I couldn't recall either my user name or the password for certain, but I was able to get a reminder of my user name and reset my password by clicking the appropriate link on the site. Of course I had to provide my alternate email address in order to do so. Although I didn't even recall my alternate email address, I was easily able to find it in a search of my primary Gmail account, to which copies of all "important" messages are typically autoforwarded, in the form of the original confirmation message they had sent me when opening my account.

My poor memory is even worse due to either the medication
for the cancer or out of old age.

And my Swedish is confusing to native Swedes so I trust
that my English must be far from understandable.

I've made a lot of progress with compures since I made
the current thread. But I fail to remember the details
what let me get back the funtionality

Thanks to all that have suggested things to try out to get it working.

The Australis_mate was due to a usb Flash memory stick I had forgotten
was attached on the backside to one of my computers so I just deleted it.
