It apparently excluded the company name in the Fastmail developer's mind.

Nick name change
I do not use nick names, preferring to use the actual email addresses. This new address book is so helpfull to use the name "No name" in this case instead of filling in the actual email address as it should. The result: my quick list is full of "No name" entries, all the same.
To be changed back to the usual behaviour ASAP !!! Even stranger is that when I take an address from the quick list in the TO: field and then remove the "No name" portion by hand, it is still sent with the "No name". I do not want to insult my correspondents in this way and will now have to fill in the addresses manually. What a pain. Don PS: this is the first negative I have ever seen in your system. A tiny change there and I say "Keep up the great work!" Firefox 1.0 Suze Linux 9.0 Neutral gray Last edited by dcorson : 9 Jan 2005 at 06:25 PM. |

I've just exported my FM address book to work out what email addys are missing from my treo. Then i'll sync up, and do a vcard export from Palm Desktop. Anyone had any luck importing a "palm desktop vcard" into FM yet? |

Import Vcard from Palm
Quote:
I just did it and it seemed to work fine. I didn't know that you could export multiple entries into one Vcard file using Palm Desktop, but I just tried it and it works fine. It seems that you cannot import it back into Palm though - I got the error "too many entries". James. [Edit]: Just to add that there were some minor errors, but I do mean minor. It would seem that 99% of my info got across. Last edited by JamesHenderson : 9 Jan 2005 at 07:07 PM. |

late comments...
Just found the "Upgrades" this morning by accident...wow!
(I mainly use the tiny login screen at https://www.fastmail.fm/mail/login/?...reen=tiny.html) The address book is a vast improvement on the old version, IMO this was the only part of the service I found lacking after moving my primary email account From Yahoo a year or so ago. The conversion seems to have worked OK with my entries, I think there were only two minor tweaks I had to make to the firstname/lastname fields. No probs with viewing or stylesheets, currently using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.7.3) Gecko/20040910 at 800x600 resolution, Professional blue 2004 style sheet. |

Opera 8.0b1 / WinXP SP2 / Professional Blue
When I add an address from a received mail to the address book by clicking [Add], all messages sent from this address book entry contain only the mail address in the to-line but not Firstname/Surname. Addresses I imported or added manualy do have the Firstname/Surname. I would like to have an option in each address book entry that lets me switch the Firstname/Surname on or off. I generally prefer to send mails only with the mail address in the to-line because sometimes I probably have the name written wrong in my address book or left academic titles out or so. |

Good news. Thankfully, its a free upgrade as Rob states, as we weren't expecting to pay more for this feature
Haven't read through this whole thread. Any ability to "build" contacts from existing emails stored on the system? Not one at a time obviously, but globally like Hotmail's funcationality, etc. |

Surely, its not perfect I'd like to see better search, and a sync utility to start. The new address book is a very nice addition. |
