Unable to reach fastmail server, Fasttest keeps crashing

Dear all,
I am unable to access Fastmail either through the Internet or through my email software. Fasttest crashes every time I try to run it. Eventually, after a very long delay, my browser returns an error: "504: Gateway Timeout."

I suspect this is an ISP problem or a problem with my Winsock (Win 98 SE), but was wondering if I could get some help with this.

Thanks
Shankar

Can access my FastMail.fm account by secure login web interface.

Immediate send/receive one FM.fm account to another FM.fm account using OE6.

Sound similar to http://www.emaildiscussions.com/...threadid=14082 ?

However, FastTest:

FastMail.FM SMTP proxy test:

Observations log
----------------

Failed 21
Failed 22
Failed 23
Failed 70
Failed 443

But, since I don't use proxies, not prob. for me
OR
what that response/observation should be?

Strange. I guess it's some kind of ISP or DNS thing. I got up and checked mail at about the time of the second post and had no problem.

There's another thread that discusses the exact same think. I don't have any problems whatsoever though

Fasttest results

I saw the other thread, but I notice that no one seems to have any answers there either...

Meanwhile, I managed to get Fasttest back up by cutting the connection after it froze up. The output is pasted below.

Can someone please let me know if they have any clue where the issue is? I rather desperately need to get to my email.

Thanks
Shankar

One thing you can try out is an anonymous proxy to see if the problems are in the link between you and fm. Try going to
http://www.the-cloak.com/ and see if you can access fastmail from there.

works through proxy service

Yes, I did try through one proxy (www.surfola.com) after my last post, and now have tried through www.the-cloak.com.

Both seem to work. However, since at least three other people have reported the same errors in the last few hours, I suspect that the problem is not limited to me. The traceroute also seems to start timing out well after it has left my ISP's computer, if I am reading it correctly.

Any ideas?

not through the cloak

SOrry, that last post was misleading in one thing - www.the-cloak.com does not allow HTTP POST requests, so I couldn't log in, but I was able to reach the site.
