New front page
We have just launched a new front page on www.runbox.com!
We hope you like it as much as we do, and we welcome any feedback you might have. For nostalgic reasons the old front page is still available here: http://www.runbox.com/index_old.ttml (If you really want to go down that lane, check out http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://runbox.com) - Geir |

this may sound like a silly question but ever since you changed your home page, FF can no longer save the username and password. It gives me the option to do so but when I check the password manager it stores "password" as the username and the correct password. And it only auto completes when i click in the password field.
Can you fix the page so that it properly records the username and password so i dont have to type it in all the time. And the old home page no longer works with the above link if I want to use it in secure mode. Adding the https to that link comes up with an invalid certificate. I suppose this wont be a problem if you can fix the password storing issue mentioned above. |

I, too, use Firefox (Mac) and use secure mode--and the new front page is broken for me.
Previously when I went to the old front page, the cursor was loaded and blinking in the "user name" field. I typed user name, tab, password, enter--and got right in. But with the new page, that doesn't happen: a) I have to click in the user name text entry field to make it active b) hitting the tab key takes me who knows where c) I then have to click in the password entry field to make it active Can we go back to the old way, where it was easy to navigate and log in? |

Thanks -- we have attempted to fix these issues now.
By the way, a much simpler login page is available directly at https://secure.runbox.com/mail (unless you're already logged in), and an even simpler method using a bookmark is described here: http://doc.runbox.com/twiki/bin/view/RunboxHelp/Login (bottom of the page). - Geir |

Nickname auto-complete
The new front page looks good, but like the other users, my login info won't pop in automatically anymore, but I know that you're working on that. My other issue that I've been having for about two months now is that my nickname auto complete stopped working for me, and I don't know why. I wrote in about this at the time and stated that I DO have it turned ON, then someone replied to my posting by saying "make sure that you have it turned on".
So, now that I've said again that I do have it turned on, does anyone know how I might fix that issue? Thanks, Eric |

New front page dose looks good, but like the other users, my login info won't pop in automatically anymore via Norton Internet Security Identity Safe.

JohnFS: I tested now with Norton Identity Safe, and it works -- the password field looks like it doesn't contain your actual password, but it does "behind the scenes".
Could you try again and just click the Login button after entering your username? - Geir |

Kim,
Right now I'm on Mac OS 10.4.11, running Firefox 3.0.11. When I bring up the main page using https://secure.runbox.com, Firefox has put the cursor at the end of your "username" text that's in that particular field. I have to backspace to get rid of it, or cmd-A to highlight it all so I can type in my user name. I can, however, now just tab over to the password field. But please note, this seems to be a Firefox issue; when I go there in Safari, the "username" text is already highlighted, ready for me to just type my user name right over it. The good news, though, is that https://secure.runbox.com/mail works just fine for me, so I'll redo my bookmark. Thanks for that tip. I dunno. I'm a simple guy; I say, do away with the fancy and go back to what works... |

Wow! A very clean and impressive change to the front page, Geir. Its main advantage over the old page is that it effectively gives equal exposure to the range of services Runbox now offers from web hosting to online email accounts. The old page didn't promote these additional services as effectively.
My only criticism would be the links at the very top of the page. These seem a little random in how they have been grouped and ordered. Perhaps rather than 'Presentation', you should title this link 'Features' and 'Information' could perhaps be titled 'Help' or 'More Information'. Perhaps this top bar could even be reserved for the core Runbox offerings: 'Web Hosting', 'Email Hosting' and 'Email Accounts'. You could also have the 'News' and 'Contact Us' links but the pricing details could be moved to the subpages and specifically detail the pricing of web hosting, email hosting, email accounts etc. As I said above, I think the look and feel of the new front page is superb. Nice to see some changes. - Henry |

Norton Identity Safe
Quote:
I tried both Firefox which is what I use all the time and IE. Begin Firefox Test Firefox - Click on shortcut URL http://www.runbox.com Firefox: URL http://www.runbox.com - All works - Norton notified - Log in to Identity Safe and runbox Username and Password fields are filled in - Click on Log In - I am taken to my Inbox. Not sure if the following is a valid test case: Click on shortcut URL https://www.runbox.com Firefox: https://www.runbox.com - Following Message is displayed - This Connection is Untrusted You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.runbox.com, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure. Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified. What Should I Do? If you usually connect to this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue. Technical Details www.runbox.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for secure.runbox.com (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain) I Understand the Risks If you understand what's going on, you can tell Firefox to start trusting this site's identification. Even if you trust the site, this error could mean that someone is tampering with your connection. Don't add an exception unless you know there's a good reason why this site doesn't use trusted identification. End Firefox Test Begin IE Test IE - Click on shortcut URL http://www.runbox.com IE: URL http://www.runbox.com - All works - Norton notified - Log in to Identity Safe and runbox Username and Password fields are filled in - Click on Log In - I am taken to my Inbox. Not sure if the following is a valid test case: IE - Click on shortcut URL https://www.runbox.com IE: URL https://www.runbox.com - Following Message is displayed - There is a problem with this website's security certificate. The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website's address. Security certificate problems may indicate an attempt to fool you or intercept any data you send to the server. We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website. Click here to close this webpage. Continue to this website (not recommended). More information If you arrived at this page by clicking a link, check the website address in the address bar to be sure that it is the address you were expecting. When going to a website with an address such as https://example.com, try adding the 'www' to the address, https://www.example.com. If you choose to ignore this error and continue, do not enter private information into the website. For more information, see "Certificate Errors" in Internet Explorer Help. End IE Test Hope this helps, sorry it took me so long to get this information to you but I been real busy. Thanks John |

John,
Thanks for the detailed feedback! We have updated the front page again, simplifying the login fields to avoid interference with password managers. I have tested successfully with both Firefox and Internet Explorer (with and without Norton Identity Safe) on both http://www.runbox.com and https://secure.runbox.com. Please note that the combination HTTPS and www.runbox.com is currently not supported -- we'll look into fixing this. - Geir |
