sent email never arrives and not in my sent box

Hi
I just sent 2 emails in the last week to someone at gmail and neither one arrived and neither one was in my sent box!!! I KNOW I sent it . Any ideas???

Are you using an email client on your computer (you've mentioned Thunderbird in the past) or Fastmail's web client? Do you remember seeing some kind of "message sent successfully" message (in FM's web client it's near the top of the screen)? Whichever client you used, where is it set up to leave your sent mail? On FM's web client, e.g., each of your personalities could direct sent mail to a different folder.
