Yes, too faithfully. I was tripped up by something that is not on the directions: selecting the server type. Once I realized I had to do that everything fell into place.

I spoke too soon. When I tried to upload the file 'edit1' by saving it to 'x:edit1' I got the following error msg: "upload for file 'edit1' failed. 403 forbidden." After I clicked OK on that I got the following elaboration: "x:edit1 is on a network with create but no modify privileges. Ask the administrator of this network to change this condition." I have no idea what this means.

Is 'x:edit1' really the right command model? Shouldn't I have to add more of a path description to the filename? Once I get this working at all the answer to this question will be clear, but I'm curious.

Maybe the resource forks or DS-store files are the problem.
DS-store files can be disabled, but I think resource forks cannot.

Unfortunately, OS X doesn't support WebDav through https, so the connection is not secure with this method.
WebDAV through https works for me under Tiger. I didn't test it with Fastmail, but this works perfectly with gmx.net

Yah, it works in Tiger's Finder (using secure connection). It also works in Transmit 3.

Is there a chance my inability to upload any files to FM via DAV under OS X is because I'm running Panther instead of Tiger? Anybody?

You'll need to save to:

x:\yourusername.domain.tld\files\edit1

The paths "x:\" and "x:\yourusename.domain.tld" are not writable by default, only readable.

The other alternative, rather than just using:

https://dav.messagingengine.com

as the DAV server path, use:

https://dav.messagingengine.com/your...ain.tld/files/

As the DAV path, then you'll be able to read/write to x: and all the dirs under it.

Various people are reporting problems with Mac OS X. For some it just hangs, for others it works, for some it's just really slow (3k per second).

To be honest, I have no idea why at the moment. We hope to find some time to track down these issues in the next week or two.

That works.

The other alternative ...

That does too.

Thanks.

How will Mac users know when these issues are resolved? Honestly, it's a real pain in the *** to go digging through the thousands of posts on these bloody forums. Isn't this the kind of thing the blog should be used for?

Firefox: Synchronize bookmarks with webdav

I use the extension bookmarks synchronizer for Firefox and have it setup to use my account at https://dav.messagingengine.com.

It looks like logging in, and it starts to send data, but I get an error 409.

What does that mean, what should I do?

Good point. I've posted a note to the blog now. Well add new ones as issues come to hand.
