Hi all,
Sorry for being out of touch for a while. The reality is that I had lost the FastCheck sources :-(. Anyway, all fine now as I found my previous computer backup and I managed to recompile the code. Bad news is that the method I was using to connect to the FastMail server is not supported any longer (it is *very* old) and I have to update the sync mechanism with the new protocol. I'm also travelling to France this week (I now live in Ireland) so I won't have time to work on it until this WE. But I'm a FC user myself so I really want this to get back on track! As a side note, I now really find the toolbar icons (check, ack, FastMail.FM and SMS) pretty ugly. If there is any UX/graphic designer around and you would like your name on the about page, feel free to send me some icons :-). Otherwise I'll try to find some free ones on the web somewhere... Found an answer!
First,
The posted answer for the fastcheck program (changing all references from Fastmail.fm to fastmail.com does appear to work. But, as fine a program as that is, it is getting long in the tooth and support appears to be waning. In the process of trying to resolve this issue (I use the feature a LOT!) I came across the program "PopPeeper" (www.poppeeper.com) that you might want to check out. It has the following additional benefits: 1) you can monitor other e-mail services too, within the same program. 2) you can run it from a memory stick. (no Install) 3) you can preview the messages from it and delete or respond. 4) you can color code the e-mail. I am sure there are more, but those are the ones I am using now that I have started with it. You need to download the version of the program for your computer and if you wish it to be in the installed or no install format. You then need to download the SSL add on (it's a zip file of two dlls that you move into the same directory as the pop peeper program.) Then set it up for your e-mail programs! Account name: Fastmail (or what ever you want!) Email address: the address you want in the return address spot. Login Name : this is the e-mail address you use to log onto fastmail with. password : Duh! Server type: IMAP and SSL Incoming Server: mail.messagingengine.com and port 993 click the Enabled box. That's it! Worked first time for me! CS Services |

Almost there!
Hi all,
Thank you for your patience, FastCheck 3.0 is almost there! As a matter of fact, it now works and I have been using it for the last couple of days without any issue. I just need to fix the branding a bit (FastMail.FM => FastMail) and swap a few icons (I just received a fantastic set from a fan) and I'll be releasing a new version :-). Eric |

Released!
Hi,
I have just released version 3.0 of FastCheck! It's as usual available on http://www.fastcheck.org/. Note that I haven't updated the release notes on the web site as I have a problem logging in to my control panel site (infinite loop...). High level release notes:
Have fun! Eric |

I just downloaded it (the standalone zip copy) and ran it seamlessly. I have set several of the folders I want to monitor, but I'll probably send myself an email from Gmail to see it in operation. Thanks Eric.
- Bruce edit: well I just did send an email to myself, and the new FastCheck did exactly what it's supposed to and notified me nearly immediately. Thanks again Eric! Last edited by somdcomputerguy : 11 Dec 2014 at 10:52 AM. Reason: test |
