Unhappy Fastcheck stopped working

Although I didn't change anything Fastcheck suddenly doesn't notify about new emails
It says: "Cannot create an IMAP connection to Fastmail.FM."
Can someone help please?

Thanks,
Oded.

Oded, it's been a long time since you posted so maybe it was just a glitch and is working for you now? I just checked FastCheck and it is working for me.

Sherry,
What isn't working is the instant notification.
It used to work flawlessly and I can't figure out what caused it to stop working as of today morning

Yes, I understand. That's what FastCheck is for an mine did notify me of new email. So do you see the icon for FastCheck in the system tray (down by the time)? If yes, then right/click and then click on Options. Now click on Accounts (bottom left). You should see your account listed there. If yes, click on it then click on OK. You can then make sure you have the folders listed that you want FC to look for email in.

When I click on OK in that window it isn't opening my account (not sure why so will troubleshoot that later) but hopefully it will open yours?

Arrow FastCheck is working fine for me

If you want to change the account you must double-click the icon for that account (listed under pick an account to change). OK just leaves the Accounts screen.

I have noticed no problems with FastCheck recently. To test the notification feature, just send yourself an email from an email client or the Fastmail website and you should get an immediate notification. I'm using the version 2.0.0.2 beta.

Thanks Bill. It's been so long since I've been in there I forgot it requires a double click. In fact last time I needed to check it it took a while for me to decide to try the double click then. (next time I need to look in there I'll probably forget again)

Yes, that particular screen is a bit confusing, Sherry. By the way, I think that something is broken with the FastCheck forum, since I can't post there today (get an error message). I only have made a few posts there in several years, so it might have been broken for a couple of weeks since not many posts are made. I just sent Eric an email today so he will check the FastCheck Forum for proper operation.

I'm using ver 2.0.0.1. Perhaps the ver you had was older than even that one. Anyway, the important thing is it's working for you now.

Yes, the version I was using was definitely older than 2.0.0.1.
But this old version worked flawlessly until yesterday morning
Anyway like you said the important thing is it's working for me now.

Thanks,
Oded.

I sent Eric (the FastCheck author) a message, and he replied that he has some additional FastCheck updates and will work on getting them posted. It's great that you are up again.

hopefully he'll post them where people can see them, not on the 4th page of some random thread on his site while his main page there links to a years-old version.

Old versions of FastCheck used an older version of SSL, which broke when FastMail removed support for it for security reasons. Versions 2 of FastCheck support TLS, which is more secure than old versions SSL.
I uploaded version 2.0.0.4 on www.FastCheck.org . This one works fine .
