New Fastmail Theme/Interface

Not sure if this is what the beta interface thread was testing, but the new Fastmail interface that was just rolled out today (when the servers were down for about 30 minutes) -- I hate it. How do I switch back to the old web interface (not the old.fastmail.fm, but the most recent version) that does NOT use the conversation layout? I purposefully stuck with fastmail over gmail because I don't like "conversation" mode.

Yes - the interface formerly known as "beta" is now live and the default interface for FastMail. The regular HTML interface is now known as "Classic", and is available by selecting More -> Use Classic Interface or alternatively, logging via https://classic.fastmail.fm/

We will be providing more information about the change shortly. Keep an eye on http://blog.fastmail.fm/

Regarding conversations, there is a setting in the new interface to disable conversations. Click "Settings", and its in the "Preferences" panel.

Hi there,
You can turn off conversations mode by going to "Settings" -> "Conversations"
If you'd rather keep using the previous interface, just select "Use Classic Interface" under "More" from the login screen, or go to classic.fastmail.fm

I would like to still be able to use "delete and show previous" and "delete and show next" when viewing and deleting an email.

You will find this setting under "Settings" -> "Navigation"

I want to be able to do either for each mail, not one or the other for all.

Also I sort by sender quite a lot when cleaning up my inbox.

All those things other people have said -- and also, I want my black screen back. One of my reasons for sticking with Fastmail over Gmail, etc was that I could easily set it to not hurt my eyes.

Also, when I try to go to classic.fastmail.fm it sends me to https://www.fastmail.fm/?force_interface=html -- ie, the regular login.

Not. Happy. At. All.

Yes - both interfaces use the same login screen. Login here, and you'll end up on the Classic interface.

Noted.

This is understandable. At the moment you can search "from:blah" to filter a specific sender if you have conversations mode turned on (default). You can sort by sender in the mailbox dropdown if you elect to turn conversations mode off as described above. It didn't make sense for us to show sort by sender in conversations mode, since conversations can be large and have multiple senders.

I agree, black is definitely the way to go for night time reading. We've got some new themes in the works, and a black screen alternative is definitely being discussed. One issue is that it's not easy to deal with HTML emails on dark reading backgrounds, since their content almost always assumes a white background. This is not a new issue - but we're looking at ways to make this work with a dark theme, whilst still maintaining a nice interface.

Hm, it should still give you the same login page as at fastmail.fm, but it will load the classic interface as robn said. Try clearing your cookies and cache if you still have issues.

Two things I need back:

1) Ability to choose the folder to save the sent email during compose.
2) HTML signature.

Are these coming back - please

Noted. We don't have an explicit selector for this this at the moment, although your per-personality save to folder setting will still work, so you can achieve this through having different personalities to direct to which ever save folder you like.

This has been requested a lot, so it is on the todo list.

This work-around isn't suitable for me.

I have many projects, each with their own folder.
I use the same personality for all of those projects.
Building a new personality for each project is not a satisfactory solution.
The old way of doing things worked fine & just made sense.
