Google killing off Inbox

Google will kill off Inbox by March 2019, so time to move on if you liked it. I tried it a few times, but I found that I had to always hunt through the various categories for emails that were miscategorized. Much easier for me to just receive every email chronologically in the regular Gmail.

This isn't about killing inbox, a place where new incoming messages end up by default.

What will be terminated is Inbox by Gmail, a limited invitation-only email service started in 2014.

Good. It sucked.

I find google products less intuitive than many others. Sending a sms via hangouts is always an adventure. I can never find the button.

Some people are pretty upset, including JR Raphael who I usually think is pretty even keeled. https://www.computerworld.com/articl...ssination.html

One thing I do find attractive about open source software running on some Linux distro is that they seem to rarely die off completely, and even when they do aren't usually shut down all at once. Someone always seems to have another version somewhere, or takes over and maintains the thing. It only requires a few passionate people to keep some software going.
