Outlook.com will be updated

From the Outlook Team:

Quote:
We are pleased to announce an update to Outlook.com that lets you make the most of the moments that matter to you—featuring a refined inbox, new ways to collaborate, an upgraded calendar and much more. This update is rolling out today, in Preview, to a small group of customers and is the first of many innovations coming as we upgrade Outlook.com to a new Office 365-based infrastructure. These new features will be made available to a broader audience through an opt-in program in the coming weeks.

I wish they would bring back support for personal domains. Office 365 is overkill for my family needs. Voted for that feature on their feedback site.

The reason support was pulled for domain hosting is likely because they wanted to push Office 365 to the limit.

I don't see them changing that now.

This might be enough for many people to move to outlook permanently !

Wonder if it will also get EWS.

Is it real office 365 technology or is this a fast one being pulled on us?

What I want is for them to stop demanding alternative email log-ins.

Driving me up the damn wall.

Based on the screenshots it looks like a modified version of OWA 2013 (Office 365).

It does sound good but I doubt they will open up allowing domains again since then the need for paid Office 365 accounts would be minimized. From what I've read if you have an existing domain on Outlook.com before they shutdown domains.live.com then it will work with these changes. Funny thing is I have a working personal domain on Outlook.com but I can't remember or find that the MX record was :-(.

Perhaps others (who have a working Outlook domain name) can let you know the details of the MX record, you need to know, in order to point your MX record correctly.

Good idea but I'm pretty sure their MX records are specific to the user and/or domain.

It seems that Microsoft is considering bringing back personal domains to Outlook.com. It is now officially under review.

Hopefully, users do not lose accessing and syncing shared calendars with outlook.com accounts. O365 accounts CANNOT sync or access shared calendars. Current Outlook.com can do it with no problems.
