Will Yahoo Mail close?

yahoo was bought by verizon, migrated to AOL department.
will yahoo mail disappear in future time?
I have a very old yahoo ID, it's my full name.
I use yahoo few time, but want to keep this email account as long as possible.

When an e-mail provider violates the privacy of users, and then emaildiscussions.com censors the discussion, it does the users a disservice. It makes emaildiscussions.com a bad place to talk about e-mail service providers.

Quoting myself from the other topic on Yahoo's future:

"I was considering having my photo portfolio to Flickr because of the many users to interact with and the lots of exposure due to the fact that Flickr.com is so frequently visited. I'll better think twice ... Stability means a lot to me internet-wise ; I don't like the idea of having to move +15000 pictures frequently because the host is changing their plans ..."

The article states nothing on Flickr's future and Verizon's plans with it ...

yes and apart from that since Flickr stopped using their uploader things are even more complicated to upload pics.

It's a shame that such a solid, good service goes down the drain.

If it goes down the drain, that is. Right now we don't know of Verizon's plans yet, so we cannot know how it will effect Yahoo ; neither email nor other Yahoo-owned services such as Flickr are having a clear future now. Maybe a lot will change, maybe all will remain the same?

A friend of mine uses Flickr very frequently and loves it. I have to decide within the next couple of months whether to stick with my paid photo host (who is not owned by any third party) or whether to open a Flickr account (or both ; the principle of not putting all eggs in one basket). Flickr seems very attractive to test if it'd remain as it was, although it's main attraction pole is of course the many users and visitors which means a lot of exposure for your pics. But I don't know if that's worth the hassle of opening an account and creating a portfolio if its continuity may be uncertain.

If you want a good alternative for Flickr you could join up at

http://www.rajce.idnes.cz/

Its from the Czech republic. AFAIK they have unlimited storage and are long enough arround. They are the largest site for this in the Czech republic. They also have their own uploud software which is also availeble in more languages then only Czech or Slovakian. You can only upload pics or vids...so NO text files.

Their uploader is here (windows):

http://www.rajce.idnes.cz/stahnout/?win

They also have apps for Android and iOS.

Pornografic content however is strictly forbidden..if you upload that it will be removed and you get a warning. Second time they ban you.

have fun.

Deep down I realy hope Yahoo mail AND AOL will close down....and they (VERIZON) will come with something completely new...fresh (free and paid) email service on par with Gmail/Outlook/Yandex etc etc..

But I guess this is just wishfull thinking.

Replacement for Flickr

Shoebox is pretty awesome
https://shoeboxapp.com/

Google Photos is also pretty awesome (in a different way from Shoebox, with the normal caveats about Google and privacy)

At least with Shoebox, you can pay them for a nice service.

I really doubt Yahoo! Mail will close. There are a lot of folks in the world who have accounts. I have three of them, one of them is a main email account.

Yahoo isn't too bad but AOL is definitely nowhere near on par with Gmail, Outlook or
Yandex. I used to use AOL as my main account but have long since moved on. I don't like all the advertisements in the mailbox or the constant emails from AOL about computer security, or the way they force UK users to have @aol.co.uk accounts instead if letting us choose @aol.com
