Web login problems right now

logging in may get you to your webmail, or may not--it may kick you back to login screen.

If you get to webmail, you can't go anywhere--it kicks you back to the login screen.

Yes: it just stays on the login screen for me.

I managed to get in but there is certainly some unusual behaviour with the web client concerning the loss of connections and the log in screen. It is almost as though there is some issue with the login cookie or something. I'm not quite sure what is causing it.

It is early Saturday morning in Norway right now but the Runbox team are usually pretty quick with their support so I know they'll be on to it as soon as possible.

They've acknowledged it and are working on it.

Hi Henry, great to see you!

You were pretty close -- there was a problem with the database connection between the web servers and the database server. We are not yet sure what is causing it since there was no lack of database threads at the time, and load was low on all relevant servers. A restart of the web server software (Apache) resolved the problem for now.

We are continuing investigations with our sysadmins to find the cause and prevent it from happening again.

Same thing is happening to me. I log into webmail and I try to click on something and I immediately get logged out and it says session expired. This happened a few days ago as well.

It's happening intermittently and we are still investigating to find out what exactly is going on. Some symptoms indicate an issue with the capacity of the central database server, but the server itself does not show any symptoms. A restart of the web server software resolves the problem temporarily, but is clearly no solution so we are working with our sysadmins to fix it permanently.
