Whitelist an IP address...

I'd like to whitelist a range of IPs rather than domains, so that anything sent from some specific servers is never seen as spam.

Is this possible?

Thanks in advance,

r.

Arrow Whitelisting, greylisting, and Trusted Hosts features

Fastmail uses two types of spam filtering:
  • Known insecure host/relay blocking
    • This blocks messages at the SMTP acceptance stage, where Fastmail is initially accepting messages when another server attempts to make a connection. Users have no direct control over this process.
    • Greylisting (temporarily deferring accepting a connection) is used if a sender is suspicious. If the envelope Mail From address (shown as X-Mail-from in the full headers) matches an email address in your online Address Book, then greylisting isn't performed. So it's good to include all known good senders in your online Address Book. Use *@domain.com to whitelist a complete domain.
  • Sieve spam filtering rules and SpamAssassin
    • This is used after the message has been accepted. The user has a large amount of control, and normally all messages with the X-Mail-From, From, or Sender header matching an online Address Book address entry (or *@domain.com wildcard match) will be whitelisted, bypassing spam filtering.
    • The Spam/Virus Protection screen lets you control the details of the spam filtering. These settings are used to automatically create a Sieve script which acts on each incoming message.
    • The Define Rules screen adds user control to the automatic Sieve script. You can add reject, filing, or forwarding rules. You can also specify secret words which bypass the Sieve script spam filtering, although this does not affect the insecure host/relay acceptance system.
    • Custom Spam Protection mode on the Spam/Virus Protection screen gives you added features. You can add a list of Trusted Hosts (separated by commas) to help allow messages to be sent through forwarding services without being so easily marked as spam. So I would add the server domain names to this list to whitelist them.
So you can't add IP addresses (only server domain names, sender email addresses, and sender domain names), but there are several features which can help insure that messages aren't blocked.

Thanks Bill, i don't think they have domain names attached to the IPs. And i take from what you say that "http://124.232.231.231,http://124.232.231.232,http://124.232.231.233" isn't going to work?

If you are talking about dsl/dialup hosts (which typically use a form of their IP for the HELO announcement of who they are), then they will probably be greylisted. See the Greylisting section on this Fastmail help page:
SMTP stage checks
