Wink Favourite ice-cream flavour!

Okay, as a Type 2 diabetic I shouldn't be anywhere near this topic, but the cybercafé I frequent most frequently has a Ben & Jerry's in it, and anyway most days (including today) I have good BG control so why not.

Ben & Jerry's are rather pricy but very good quality, and of their flavours (that I've tried) the one I keep coming back to is Cherry Garcia® (cherries — real ones — and chocolate chunks), which I think is named after the late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead.  (Perhaps their lemon sorbet, Lemony, should be renamed John Lemon?)

OK, anyone else have a fave brand/flavour?  (I remember Baskin-Robbins, in the UK in July 1977, coming out with a one-off "Silver Jubilee" flavour, but apart from the silver dragees it was decorated with I don't remember the details...)

My sister and I indulged in a Ben & Jerry icecream-eating frenzy last weekend... She had a 'Caramel Sutra' and I had 'Chunky Monkey', and we shared a small cup of Cookie Dough. I liked Chunky Monkey, but her's was too chocolaty. The Cookie Dough I left to her, it tasted horrible...

It's extremely expensive IMHO. A 100 ML cup is €2,50 and a 500 ML cup is €6,00 .. It should be noted that this was delivered to our doorstep by the SpareRib Expres, though (we didn't order the ribs, just the icecream. The small one was ordered because they only deliver starting at €12,50... In retrospect I should have just asked them to put an additional 50 cents up to the bill...)

LOL, you should send them that suggestion. It is funny!
Lemon sorbet is dreamy on a hot summer day, and green tea ice cream on any other day, but the man who bought me Godiva Chocolate Raspberry Truffle ice cream became my hubby.

I like "Mint Chocolate Chip" and "Rum & Raisin", i'm not bothered much who makes it. I also like the ice cream that you get from the ice cream van. It is very white and soft and comes out of a machine like cake icing. The EC tried to ban it once, I remember, and make us eat their yellow hard stuff.

I like the good old fashioned home made ice cream. I use to make it as treat for my kids. These days any good quality real ice cream that has chocolate in it. Failing that, Ben and Jerry's Cookie dough

I like good quality vanilla with a very short list of ingredient.

I don't solid lumps of chocolate in ice cream (as opposed to chocolate flavouring). Chocolate shouldn't be eaten cold, it loses it's flavour.

Cool Yum!

I'm a Type 2 diabetic also, but ignore doctor's advice for ice cream.

When really indulging, I go for Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia, which is, in fact, named after Jerry. My favorite.

But when feeling a little guilty, I really like Dreyer's Grand Light: 1) Almond Mocha Fudge; 2) Rocky Road; and 3) Triple Chocolate, in that order.

Anything with almonds, peanuts, or pecans, and chocolate, in vanilla or chocolate flavored ice cream.

That's a pretty scary statistic, at least 3 out of 10 people in this thread have type 2 diabetes.

I've gone right off my chocolate biscuit.

It's reaching epidemic proportions and goes hand-in-hand with obesity.

Moderation and plenty of exercise. (At least that's what my doctor tells me.)

You don't have to lay off the chocolate biscuits (or ice cream) if you're living right.

Diabetes UK reckon that out of the UK population (55 million, I think), 1½ million are diagnosed diabetic and at least another million are undiagnosed...

That's the scariest.

I didn't want to know. But when my brother told me he was diagnosed with diabetes, I went to my doctor to get tested...hoping to be ruled out.

Being a diabetic with a sweet tooth is hard. Some sweets made with the fake stuff just don't taste good.

Sorry, getting OT. Hope it's not bumming people out.

Here's the American equivalent of the British diabetes organization.

Have you tried things made with Stevia? It is a natural sweetener and can be found in Trader Joes. I am not diabetic but I like it in my spice tea and coffee instead of having calories and side-effects of sugar.
P.s. I have an ice-cream maker which I seldom use - I may try Stevia the next time I make mango ice cream.

Edit: I just found this site about Stevia
